Approval is only step one

$10,000/month is available — but getting approved is only the beginning

The Ad Grants program is real and has been running since 2003. Between an organization and a working grant account sit verification, website requirements, product activation, campaign setup, conversion tracking, and ongoing compliance — the parts we take over.

Eligibility verification

Google's validation partner confirms 501(c)(3) status and organization type. Some categories — hospitals, schools, government entities — are excluded, and edge cases need careful handling.

Website requirements

The nonprofit must control its domain, and the site needs a clear mission, substantial original content, working navigation, mobile usability, and HTTPS before Google will approve ads pointing to it.

Activation and setup

Google for Nonprofits approval doesn't switch anything on by itself. Workspace, professional email, the Ad Grants account, conversion tracking, and campaigns each have to be configured separately — and correctly.

Ongoing compliance

The grant comes with real rules: click-through-rate minimums, keyword quality standards, meaningful conversion tracking, required sitelinks, and policies that change. Accounts that nobody maintains get suspended.

How it works

Four stages — you pay nothing until stage four

1

Free preliminary eligibility review

Tell us who you are below. We review your organization's public nonprofit status, organization type, and website, and reply within one business day with the preliminary result.

2

Google for Nonprofits

We help your organization complete nonprofit verification and Google for Nonprofits enrollment. Google and its verification partner make the approval decision.

3

Workspace + Ad Grant activation

Where appropriate, we help configure Google Workspace and custom-domain email, then prepare and activate the Google Ad Grants account. You pay $0 until the grant is approved.

4

Campaigns + ongoing management

We configure conversion tracking, campaigns, keywords, ads, and landing pages, then manage and optimize the account for $150/month flat. Cancel anytime.

Pricing

$150/month flat

And $0 until Google approves your grant — application and enrollment assistance included. We monitor compliance risks and address issues before they threaten the account.

Need us to manage the website too?

Ad campaigns work better when the website behind them stays healthy. After launch, nonprofit clients can optionally add ongoing website care — routine maintenance, updates, backups and security, broken-link monitoring, small content changes, forms, and Ad Grant landing-page upkeep.

Website Care: +$125/month  ·  Ad Grant Management + Website Care: $275/month

Entirely optional, and not unlimited development — larger projects are quoted separately. Mention it in the form if you're interested.

Google and its verification partners make all eligibility and approval decisions. Webmaster & More cannot guarantee approval, review times, advertising spend, traffic, leads, donations, or other results.

We went through the process ourselves

Eligibility

Could your organization qualify?

Being a 501(c)(3) with a website is the starting point, not a guarantee — Google applies additional organizational and website rules and makes the final decision. Here's the honest picture.

Usually a good candidate

  • Current qualifying 501(c)(3) in good standing
  • Not in one of Google's excluded categories
  • Organization controls its own domain
  • Website clearly explains the mission and programs
  • Meaningful original content, working links, mobile-friendly, HTTPS

Additional review required

  • Health-related organizations
  • Organizations affiliated with schools or universities
  • Organizations affiliated with hospitals or healthcare providers
  • Chapters operating under a parent or group exemption
  • Organizations without a website
  • Organizations unsure of their current 501(c)(3) status

Generally excluded by Google's current rules

  • Government entities
  • Hospitals and healthcare organizations
  • Schools, universities, and academic institutions

Certain charitable or philanthropic arms of excluded organizations may still qualify — send the form and we'll review it honestly.

Questions

Ad Grants FAQ

Is this really free advertising from Google?+

Yes. Google Ad Grants is an official Google program, running since 2003, that gives eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits up to $10,000 per month in Google Search advertising credit. It isn't a trial or a discount — it renews every month for as long as the account stays eligible and compliant. It's in-kind advertising credit, not cash the organization receives.

Does every 501(c)(3) qualify?+

No. 501(c)(3) status is the starting requirement, but Google applies additional rules about organization type (hospitals and healthcare organizations, schools and universities, and government entities are generally excluded) and about the website itself. Google and its verification partners make the final decision — which is why we start with a free preliminary review instead of promising approval.

What's the catch?+

There's no catch, but there are real rules. Grant ads run on Google Search only, must promote your mission (not commercial activity), and the account has ongoing requirements — a 5% click-through-rate minimum, keyword quality standards, meaningful conversion tracking, and required sitelinks among them. Accounts that fall out of compliance can be suspended. Those rules are exactly why ongoing management matters.

What if we don't have a website?+

A qualifying website is required before an Ad Grant can be activated — but that doesn't mean you should wait to reach out. We can first review your nonprofit's status, tell you exactly what a grant-ready website needs, and help you get there. Building nonprofit websites is part of what we do.

What if our grant isn't approved?+

Then you pay nothing — ever. Our $150/month starts only after Google approves your Ad Grants account and your ads are actually running.

Do we give you our passwords?+

Absolutely not — and please never email passwords to anyone, including us. Every account stays owned by your organization; you grant us access securely through Google's own administrator and manager permissions, and you can revoke that access at any time.

How long does approval take?+

It varies, and we won't pretend otherwise. Timing depends on nonprofit verification, your documentation, Google's review, website readiness, and whether Google requests additional information. Our own nonprofit's Google for Nonprofits approval progressed unusually quickly, but that was one organization's experience — we can't guarantee review times for anyone.

What happens after approval?+

That's when the real work starts: conversion tracking, campaign strategy, campaign building, keywords and ad copy, then ongoing optimization and compliance management. Approval gives you the grant; the campaigns and upkeep are what turn it into visitors, signups, and support for your mission.

Do we have to spend all $10,000?+

No — Google doesn't require it, and unused budget doesn't roll over. The goal is relevant traffic and meaningful outcomes for your mission, not artificially consuming the grant. We build campaigns around real programs and real searches, at whatever spend that honestly supports.

What's the free email part?+

The same Google for Nonprofits enrollment that unlocks the Ad Grant also includes Google Workspace for Nonprofits — professional email at your own domain (you@yourorganization.org), plus Docs, Drive, and Meet, at no charge from Google. Where it's appropriate for your organization, we set this up as part of onboarding.

Who owns the accounts?+

You do — always. The Google for Nonprofits account, the Ad Grants account, and the email are all registered to your organization. If you ever leave us, everything keeps working and stays with you. That's how we run every project: we build it, you own it, we stay.

Can we cancel?+

Anytime — there's no contract. The grant and the email accounts are yours and keep working; you'd simply take over the monthly campaign upkeep yourself.

Google and its verification partners make all eligibility and approval decisions. Webmaster & More cannot guarantee approval, review times, advertising spend, traffic, leads, donations, or other results.

The grant renews every month — and unused months don't roll over.
